How the Wordle solver works
Play your guess in Wordle, then copy the board into the three rows above. A green tile goes into Right spot, in the slot it occupies. A yellow tile goes into Wrong spot. A grey tile goes into Not in the word. Press Search and you get every five letter word still consistent with what the board has told you — usually a handful after two guesses.
It does not pick for you. You see the shortlist and choose, which is the difference between a hint and a spoiler.
Answers versus guesses
Wordle accepts roughly 12,975 five letter words as guesses, but it only ever draws the answer from a much shorter list of 2,315 common words. That gap is the single most useful thing to know about the game.
The Dictionary menu under More filters switches between the two. Leave it on Wordle answers only and the solver shows just the words that can actually be today's answer. Switch it to Wordle guesses when you want to check whether an obscure word will be accepted at all, or when you are deliberately burning a turn to test letters.
Choosing a starting word
A good opener spends all five slots on letters that appear often: CRANE, SLATE, ADIEU and ROATE are the usual picks. Any of them tends to light up two or three tiles, and two or three tiles is enough for the solver to cut thousands of candidates down to a list you can read.
If your first guess comes back all grey, that is still five letters ruled out. Put them in Not in the word and the list will already be far shorter than you expect.
Repeated letters
Wordle's trickiest boards involve a letter used twice. Open Display options, switch on Count repeats, then enter the letter in both Right spot and Wrong spot. With that setting off the two entries are read as one letter, which is the right behaviour on most boards but wrong on this one.
Every word Wordle can pick
The list under the solver is the complete answer pool, sorted alphabetically and scored for Scrabble. Nothing on it is today's answer any more than anything else is — it is the whole set, which is exactly why browsing it spoils nothing.
How do I use the Wordle solver?

Does it tell me the answer?
No, and that is deliberate. It narrows the field to the words that are still possible and leaves the choice to you, so you get a hint without having the puzzle spoiled.
What is the difference between Wordle answers and Wordle guesses?
Wordle accepts about 12,900 words as guesses but only ever picks its answer from roughly 2,300 of them. Set the dictionary to Wordle answers only to see the shortlist that can actually be today's word; leave it on Wordle guesses to check whether a word will be accepted at all.
